REINFORCEKiT® STRUCTURE, Pressure vessel – CIS
Composite solution for structural repair
Overview
The aim of the job, performed in December 2025 by 3X ENGINEERING (3X) local partner was to reinforce a 126" condensate splitter vessel that had a 695mm-length corrosion defect located at the bottom edge of the collar of the structure. The reinforcement was designed using 3X composite solution REINFORCEKIT STRUCTURE to restore the structural integrity of the pressure vessel wall.
Results
The reinforcement of the pressure vessel was successfully completed despite the restricted working area, following all engineering procedures and quality control measures. The applied composite system restored structural strength and ensures durable and reliable operation over the designed two-year service life and potentially longer.

SCOPE OF WORK
In accordance with ASME PCC-2 standard, the repair design required the application of 14 layers of REINFORCEKIT STRUCTURE, made of Kevlar® tape impregnated with 3X high-temperature epoxy resin. Surface preparation was performed using Bristle Blaster® machine to achieve a surface roughness greater than 60 µm Rz. The preparation was carried out around the entire repair area to ensure optimal adhesion and effectiveness of the composite wrapping. Hygrometric conditions were then verified and the surface was cleaned prior to reinforcement wrapping.
- First resin layer application: An initial layer of high-temperature epoxy resin was applied to ensure the good impregnation of the first composite tape layer.
- Composite wrapping reinforcement: The damaged area was reinforced by wrapping 14 composite layers over a total repair length of 901mm, ensuring full coverage of the defect area.
- Final resin layer application: Last layer of high-temperature epoxy resin was applied over the composite wrapping as final coating.
- Repair finalisation: Identification plate was installed to ensure full traceability and resin hardness measurement was performed to confirm the full curing of the composite system.
