STOPKiT®, Leak simulation test – Middle-East
Online leak sealing solution for emergency pipe repair
Overview
The objective of the trial, performed in January 2023 for 3X ENGINEERING (3X) client was to seal online a leak simulation on a 40 pipe spool performed under pressure rate of 30 bars for 24 hours. To carry out the test, it was decided to use 3X emergency leak sealing system STOPKiT®.
Results
This trial was successfully managed by our trained and certified distributor along with 3X supervisor. The leakage was sealed within few minutes thanks to our emergency pipe repair system STOPKiT®. Once inspection completed, STOPKiT® patch was untightened and at approx. 50% unbolting progression the leak was still under control. This proves that even with pressure fluctuation, STOPKiT® is still able to hold the leak.

SCOPE OF WORK
The pipe defect, measuring 25mm, was situated at 6 o'clock. The trial was performed according to 3X installation procedure described below using STOPKiT® reference STON140 (suitable reference for a 40" pipe in onshore environment with a maximum size defect of 50mm and up to 50 bars of pressure):
- STOPKiT® was slided and the rubber patch perfectly positioned over the leakage using specific positioner device.
- The pipe spool was then filled with water. It took around one hour and half to fill the spool completely.
- Once water filling completed, STOPKiT® was completely tightened (until torque reached 40Nm for both screws).
- Pressure was injected into the spool and increased gradually up to 30 bars.
- The leakage was totally controlled and held using STOPKiT® product.
Four days after STOPKiT® installation, inspection was done. None sign of leak was observed on any part of the STOPKiT® patch.
